Our story

Last updated Nov 3, 2026

MimoKind was started by parents of autistic children.

Like many families, we spent years looking for things that genuinely helped: ear defenders comfortable enough to keep on, a visual schedule that made mornings calmer, a fidget quiet enough for the classroom. Along the way we found too many products that were described vaguely, didn't suit real sensory needs, or came with promises no product should make.

MimoKind is the store we wished we'd had. We started it to make that search a little easier for other families, and to share what we've learned along the way.

What we believe

  • Every autistic person is different. What helps one person may not suit another, so we describe every product honestly (size, weight, texture, sound, age range and safety) to help you choose what's right for your family.
  • Support, not "fixing". Our products are tools for comfort, communication and independence. They are not treatments or cures, and we will never present them that way.
  • Calm by design. We look for products without surprise noises, flashing lights or harsh textures, unless that's exactly what they're for.
  • Everyone is welcome here. Parents and carers, autistic teens and adults, grandparents, teachers, therapists and friends.
  • Help shouldn't depend on budget. That's why we offer free printables and guides alongside the products we sell.

You're not alone

Some days go smoothly; others are hard. On both kinds of days, it helps to hear from people who understand. That's why MimoKind has a place for families to share what has worked for them, and what hasn't.

If a product, a routine or a small idea has made a difference for you, we'd love to hear about it. With your permission, we'll share it with your first name only, so other families can learn from it too.
